So I'm really tired of some students. We turned in our grades before christmas, and we are still getting pestered by some students who are begging to have their grades changed.
One in particular is driving me nuts. I want to grab her by the ear, lift her on her tip toes, and walk her out of peter hall, while asking here "what part of no don't you understand? the n or the o?" But since here english is already so bad, she would still beg for a grade change.
So here is the story. This student is one of Crissy's fort hayes composition juniors. she failed compositions. (total grade is a 59. Crissy actually bumped it up some, but she is definitely an F student) so she comes over and crissy tells her the grade. She starts trying to cry (apparently girls in china know if they put on waterworks, they get results) but crissy won't let her. crissy is busy dealing with the kids at the same time. So when they start fighting she says "excuse me" gets up and deals with the kids. The student then proceeds to try to argue/beg for 20 minutes. Crissy tells her no, and gets up and opens the door (huge hint) the student leaves.
And comes back the next day to beg some more, to fight for that 1% point to get the d which is a passing grade. Crissy goes over it with her, and her translator (the student brought another better english speaking student to translate. That should be a sign to you if you have to have a translator to understand your teacher that you aren't good enough). So crissy tells her, no, but if you want in my class next year (eng 101 is only offered in the fall) crissy would be willing to have her. Student leaves.
Student schedules an appointment with crissy for Christmas under the pretense of wishing the family a merry Christmas. This pretense lasted almost 50 minutes and the student even brought small Christmas gifts for criss, and the kids. Ok a Christmas gift on Christmas (the eyebrows go up, thinking a possible bribe, but the student didn't ask for a changed grade then so figure they were gifts, no big deal), when they ran out of small talk. Student starts to beg, and now there is a small sob story. The last time she brought home bad grades her father beat her with a belt. No. I understand, but my parents don't. No. Please change my grade? No, and we have an appointment with a student now, you will have to go. Have a nice time.
20 minutes later criss looks in the hall to get a drink of water, and the student is still in the hall. That is weird. 1 minute later, there is a knock on the door. The student, and HER MOTHER!! oh joy. Mom doesn't speak any english, but walks into the house with 3 bags under her arms. Student says my mother wants to meet my favorite teacher (my butt). The phone rings, it's the front desk, the mother just walked in and needs to sign in at the front desk. Mother asks (through daughter) if Crissy will change her grade for her only child. No. Oh ok, they go to the front to sign in. Crissy tries to give back bags. "oh they are just tea, a small Christmas gift" (by now the student who was visiting us is actually hiding his face in his hands). Student walks back, "my mother doesn't understand, and she wants me to ask that you change my grade ok?" No. Have your mother take her bags. The student runs out of peter hall. Great
We open up the bags. 350 RMB bottle of alcohol. 250 RMB bottle of alcohol. 200 RMB bottle of alcohol (we know because the student we were meeting with (Michael, I mentioned him earlier great kid) is still there, and he tells us the value of them) A large exotic tea set 300 RMB, and a very large 5" wide, and 8" long calendar.
GRRRRR!!! I swear if I see this student again, I'll take her out of here by her ear!!
We notified fort Hayes, and SIAS, but this is just annoying!!!
